Entering 2022 with Vision

Houzz and Pinterest have perfected that virtual idea books are a wonderful place to categorize and collect snapshots and articles of appealing ideas, objects and spaces. Gone are the days of binders filled with magazine clippings signifying bits and pieces of our ideal e or dream vacation.

But even with infinite opportunities sometimes there is nothing more satisfying than sitting down with a stack of magazines, scissors, glue stick and a blank piece of poster-board to let your creativity of childhood make way for a vision-board to your future.

A vision-board is simply a series of pictures and words that you choose to represent given goals.  While many people are satisfied with writing down their goals if you are an optic learner it may make sense to go a step further and put together a simple board to keep in sight and top of mind.  Vision boards can be for a specific centered achievement like a kitchen remodel or garden or for multifaceted goal setting and planning.

It’s a fun activity to get the new year started with vision and planning so gather some friends or colleagues and follow these easy steps to create your very own boards.

Step 1)  Gather magazines.  Inspiration can be found in all types of publications since life takes on many roles so the broader the spectrum the better.

Step 2) Gather supplies:  Scissors, glue sticks and large paper, poster-board or foam-board for each participant.

Step 3) Find an area with plenty of work surface so everyone can spread out.

Step 4) Schedule a time with limited interruptions.  Goal planning is important so set a priority and power off the electronic devices  One to two hours is ideal, it allows everyone to get involved with the exercise while also putting limits for those who may get sucked down the rabbit hole,

Step 5) Start cutting.   Search through magazines and cut out  anything visual that sparks interest for your board. It could be an item, an emotion, or a slogan the importance is it signifies something you want to accomplish in the next year.

Step 6) Glue down your photos.  This is your masterpiece so there is no wrong or right way to categorize or create your vision-board.

Step 7) Verbalize and write out each goal. Goals should be specific, measurable , achievable, relevant and time-bound.

Step 8)  Share your board and goals as a group.  Statistics prove that goals that are shared become more attainable.  Go a step further and create accountability partners to check in and help one another stay on target.

Step 9) Display your work.  Keep your finished vision-board in a predominant place you can see it often.

Step 10) Celebrate one another’s achievements as they are reached throughout the year.

I would love to share my current vision board to you and talk about your vision for 2022.

Keep Living in Grace,

Michele
