A Letter to my Teenage Self

My journal entry prompt for the day was to write a letter to your teenage self giving advice and revealing what the future holds.  This seemed like a good journal entry to live on my blog so here it goes.  What would you say to your teenage self?

Hey Shelly Girl,

So much I want to say to you but I know you well enough to know you will do things in your own way, and that's okay it's worked for you so far but here are just a few nuggets to keep in mind as you set out to conquer the world.

1) Be uniquely you, don't try to fit in your bigger then the status quo in so many ways.

2) Your style, your values, your beliefs hold them STRONG.

3) Keep on having fun but study just a little harder.

4) Focus on a healthy mind, body and soul. Forget about the fad diets and concentrate on good habits.

5) Keep your competitive edge.

6) Your Mom is going to be right more times then you will want to admit.

7) Be a Leader in all things especially for those who might not have a voice.

8) Find and follow your Passion.

9) Explore, experiment have fun and don't ever settle for less then you deserve.

10) Be authentic and stay a step ahead.

11) Don't let the insecurities of others deter you.

12) Don't let the opinions of others define you.

Sneak peak... we turn out okay, we still battle with insecurities in our self esteem, weight and abilities.  We set goals and we kill them! We have so many people in our lives who love us and cheer us on. We've been given some great opportunities and have never feared stepping up to the challenge. We've celebrated some awesome wins (ours and others) and we've grieved big losses. My final tips: travel more, save more, plan a retirement, pay more attention to the fleeting moments of your life, trust your gut and don't look back just keep moving forward.

You've got this!

Love,

Shell
