Where do I start?

WHERE DO I START?

Blogging, it has been on my to do list for a while but where to start? Do you find the hardest thing about starting is, well starting?  There is a Chinese Proverb that states “the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today.”  I’m not sure 20 years ago I knew exactly what a blog was but that is the power of innovation and the magic of now.

So let’s begin,  where my Middle School English teacher Ms. Clark taught me, with the 5Ws  of information gathering.

Who: My name is Michele Batye and from the title of this blog you may of guessed my occupation has to do with flooring.  I own and operate a flooring store located in Columbia Missouri.  But my life also includes a lot more titles then President, Owner and Boss Lady.  There is: Wife; Bonus Mom;  Dog Mom; G-Ma; Community Leader; Sister; Niece; Aunt; Friend; Mentor; Champion-er of Goals (yours and mine); Advocate of Women Owned Businesses, Crafter, Creator, Collector (is it too early to add Blogger?)

What:  I want this to be a place to grow my brand. A sounding board to  talk about of course flooring, but much more.  Home design and decor, business, fashion, personal style, leadership, teams, family, community, friends, pets, construction,  retail, women owned businesses, optimism, motivation, kindness, confidence, art,  talent, books, entertainment and anything you want to hear about.

When: Check back at least monthly, my hopes are as often as possible, but I have to start somewhere.

Where: You can find my blog here on the Blogger page or links will be added to both my business and personal social media sites so you can follow me on other platforms.

Why: I’ve always inspired to be a business owner. Growing up my childhood memories are of creating, building and designing objects of texture and function and setting up pretend shops to sell my goods.  Life and insecurities made me take the backstage in retail, In fact for years I felt like the Wizard in Oz, “pay no attention to the person behind the curtain”.  Maybe I’m a late bloomer but I’m eager to carry on my predecessor's story while creating my own unique brand. All the while building trust with you and hopefully hearing your stories too.

So I did it, here is my first blog seed, planted.  And I’m looking forward to cultivating and feeding this  in hopes that we can find a comforting and safe place to grow.

Keep living in grace,

Michele
